The Analytical Laboratory of the Sri Lanka Tea Board was established in 1986 in order to facilitate the testing and certification requirements of the Sri Lankan Tea industry on the quality assurance of Ceylon Tea.
The Analytical Laboratory carries out tests in accordance with accepted ISO International standards or otherwise validated methods to satisfy the needs of clients that require test reports on predetermined quality parameters.
All activities of Analytical Laboratory comply with the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Standard and the requirements of the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board.
The three operational units of the Sri Lanka Tea Board Analytical Laboratory comprising the Chemical Analysis Unit, Microbiology Analysis Unit and Pesticide Residues Analysis Unit were granted accreditation by the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment(SLAB), the national body authorized by the International Laboratory Accreditation Committee (ILAC) in March, 2014 and continued as conformed by regular annual surveillances audits.
The competent and skilled technical staff at the Analytical Laboratory also carries out tests in accordance with accepted International standard methodologies prescribed in ISO 3720:2011 for Black Tea as well as ISO 11287:2011 for Green Tea.
We are committed to advising, monitoring, inspecting and guiding to achieve and maintain the highest standards of quality in the final production of Ceylon Tea. All activities of the Analytical Laboratory comply with the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Standard and the requirements of Sri Lanka Accreditation Board.
The Analytical Laboratory operates conducts its operations at state-of-the-art testing laboratory units with world class laboratory facilities at its permanent location, situated at 574/1, Galle Road, Colombo 03, Sri Lanka, where separate floors are assigned for each unit specific to their function and/or operations.
