The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025 was held from 05–10 November in Shanghai-China, showcasing Sri Lanka’s key export strengths under a well-coordinated national pavilion led by the Export Development Board (EDB). The pavilion featured major sectors including Ceylon Tea, coconut and coconut-based products, Ceylon Gems, Sri Lankan handicrafts, and Ceylon Cinnamon, with the active participation of the Sri Lanka Tea Board, Coconut Development Authority, Gem and Jewellery Authority, and the Sri Lanka Handicraft Board.
Sri Lanka’s presence generated strong market visibility, enhanced trade inquiries, and strengthened business networking opportunities. Ceylon Tea received particular attention for its premium quality, unique regional flavours, and strong brand identity within the Chinese market. The pavilion enabled direct engagement with Chinese buyers, distributors, and industry leaders, resulting in promising commercial interest and potential new trade partnerships. Participation also contributed to reinforcing Sri Lanka’s image as a supplier of high-quality, ethically produced goods. The blending of public and private sector representation further amplified product diversity and business outreach. Overall, the event provided a strategic platform to promote Sri Lanka’s export portfolio, expand market access, and create new opportunities for long-term trade cooperation with China.
