Sri Lanka Participation at the SIAL Paris – 2022 Exhibition

Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) and Sri Lanka Tea Board in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris successfully organized Sri Lanka Food and Beverage sector participation at the SIAL Paris – 2022 exhibition held from 15th to 19th October 2022 in Parc Des Expositions- Paris Nord Villepinte in Paris.

SIAL Paris is a one of the best and biggest food and beverage sector exhibition in the world and it is a flagship industry event on the international stage including some more special events such as SIAL Future Lab, SIAL Start-ups, SIAL Talks, SIAL Insights and Innovations. There was a large area dedicated to national pavilions where the countries could be able to showcase their finest products of their producers in the agri-food industry and share their experiences. Exhibitors from 127 countries in the industry and thousands of visitors were attracted to the SIAL Paris 2022 which could be able to discover latest innovations in grocery and preserved food, wine and spirits, beverages including tea and hot beverages, bakery and sweet products, wide range of gourmet and frozen products, meat and dairy products and as well as organic and wellness products.

Under the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, nineteen(19) companies participated at the exhibition namely Worga Naturals (Pvt) Ltd, Consolidated Business Systems Ltd, ADAMEXPO, Enrich Tea & Food Exports (Pvt) Ltd, Jaindi Export (Pvt) Ltd, Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC, NDC Exports (Pvt) Ltd, Waguruwela Oil Mills (Pvt) Ltd, Union Commodities (Pvt) Ltd, Kandetiya Agro Products (Pvt) Ltd, Ceylon Biscuits Limited, A.S. Agri Exports Pvt Ltd, Expo Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Ltd, Edinborough Products (Pvt) Ltd, Nestlé Lanka PLC, HJS Condiments Limited, New Lanka Cinnamon Pvt Ltd and Cargills Ceylon PLC.

Under Sri Lanka Tea Board, thirteen (13) companies from Tea sector participated at the exhibition namely Jafferjee & Sons (Pvt.)Ltd, Maskeliya Tea Gardens Ceylon (Pvt.) Ltd, Nature Ceylon Trading Pvt. Ltd, Ceyexx Limited, A.F. Jones Exporters Ceylon (Pvt.)Ltd, Ceylon Tea Land (Pvt.) Ltd, Heritage Teas (Pvt.) Ltd, Euro Asia Tea (Pvt.) Ltd, HVA Foods PLC, TDK Trade Links (Pvt.) Ltd, Meezan & Company (Pvt.) Ltd, and representing SME sector Alfa Exports (Pvt.) Ltd and Kandrick Tea Beverages Lanka attended the exhibition.

In addition to the above, thirty-two (32) more export companies, representing Sri Lanka food and beverage and ingredients sectors also showcased their products at the event on individual/private basis.

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board Pavilion was declared open by Ambassador to French Republic and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama with the participation of Diplomats, Sri Lanka Exhibitors, SLEDB Officers, distinguished invitees and visitors to the exhibition. The Ambassador also visited Sri Lanka Tea Board Pavilion and met with the exporters. The Ambassador highly appreciated the participation of Sri Lanka exhibitors in this difficult time period and encouraged them to exploit more business opportunities.

Sri Lanka Embassy in Paris extended its fullest assistance to SLEDB and Sri Lanka Tea Board from the beginning to end of the organization process of the Sri Lanka participation. Sri Lankan companies were able to receive positive responses and were highly satisfied with the outcome of their participation.

Before the exhibition, Sri Lanka Embassy shared the contact details of potential importers for all sectors represented by Sri Lankan companies, enabling them to make business meetings with them. In addition to that, the Embassy invited all potential importers to visit Sri Lanka Pavilion and arranged some business to business meeting with potential importers at the pavilion.
